Lithuanians’ diary 

Italy 

2019 October 

Sunday 20th October 

The day of departure from Lithuania was amazing. It was very fun

for the students who were flying for the first time by  plane. When

we landed It was very weird having to be in such warm weather.

After a 3hour drive we arrived in Castel di Sangro, where everyone

from our group  met their families. All were very tired, but happy.

Monday 21st October 

The second day was very interesting. The Italian pupils led tours

through both of the schools in Castel di Sangro.We had a presentation

about nutrition and healthy eating, after it in mixed teams we competed

in checking the knowledge about the information we had heard.

It was really fun.  After we went exploring through the village.

We even got to see a church that was built for the dead! Later we

went trekking through the national park about 6 kilometers,

we got to know how and when the land was formed. After trekking

everyone went to their homes and ate traditional Italian meals.

Some of our pupils even got to witness a bear in the backyard

of their accommodations.

Tuesday 22nd October

We had an exhausting day walking in the national park, enjoying

the views of nature. It was really nice, we also liked listening to

the guide’s stories. We liked travelling by bus because we made

friends with Greek girls, So we chatted a lot. The food here was

fantastic. 

Wednesday 23rd October 

On the third day we went to the city of Naples. Waking up early as usual,

we drove for about 3 hours in the morning. In Naples we had free time

to walk around, visiting many shops and enjoying the view of the Tyrrhenian Sea.

We also went to a pizzeria and ate Italian pizza, which’s taste depends on the pizza

and who makes it, as we realised. I ordered “Mimosa”, which was with raw ham,

milk froth and corn. The first bite was actually tasty, but then it became worse

and worse. Though others’ pizzas were actually good. On our way back we saw

Mount Vesuvius, a volcano that is active to this day. By the way, the

weather changes quite drastically throughout the day: in the morning there

is barely +3°C, in  midday +26°C, and in the evening around +10°C. 

Thursday 24th October 

This day was very sad because it was the last day visiting Italy. We were  very

surprised because all people in Italy are very relaxed and they live without any

hurry. It was also new interesting for us to know that Italians eat a lot of pasta

and drink loads of espresso. The evening was spent at school dancing and chatting

with all students. It was really fun. Last night's dinner was pretty sad but the food

was amazing.

Friday 25th October

It was really hard to say goodbye to everyone. We couldn’t believe that it would be 

so sad. We hope to meet everybody one day. 

We were happy to live in very warm families. 

Saturday 26th October

We just landed in Dublin and we were tired. One of the students relatives

lives in Ireland and he offered  to help us. He drove us to Belfast which was

a 2h drive from Dublin. He helped us to open the door which led us to a warm

and cozy little house. We picked our beds and went to sleep at about 2 in the

morning and as soon as we made contact with the bed we went to sleep.

We slept like babies and woke up  around 12:00 . one of the teachers made

everyone breakfast/lunch. 

After that the teachers went for a walk and the students stayed in the house.

While the teachers were walking, they saw some of the Irish nature and

culture, they even saw someone's wedding. When they got back, everyone

sat on the couch and watched movies. When it was time for dinner one

of the students made eggs with pork, sausages and a salad. It was delicious.

After  dinner everyone watched one final movie and went to sleep.           

Sunday 27th October

We all woke up at 4 a.m. and packed our bags . one of the teacher’s friend

was willing to drive us to the airport. It wasn't far away but the drive felt very long

and after we got to the airport, we went to wait for the gate to open so we would

fly to Lithuania. This flight was the longest one out of many that we have flown

but it was the last. When we landed we all felt happy because our adventure will soon end.

After we got out of the airport we drove what felt like hours only was one but when we

finally saw home we felt happy because our adventure came to the end.
